Seen Bob approx 10 times since 1981. The fact that is HIM onstage is always a powerful experience.
I'm lucky in that only 1 gig was below par.1989 in Birmingham with guitarist G E Smith playing over loud and heavy.......but the gig was saved by a stunning solo acoustic version of Barbara Ellen......it made me wonder what it would have been like to see young Bob playing in Greenwich Village in the early 60s.
Fast forward to 2011......The Feis,Finsbury Park,London.Approx 70 000 people appreciating Bob totally into his playing, surrounded by sympathetic players.Subtle textures throughout....not easy on a massive outdoor gig.
I was miles from the stage, right by the sound desk and fully absorbed by the gig......but intrigued by the age range and multinational mix of the audience.A Dutch woman next to me gave a smile of triumph as she pressed the send button on her mobile phone. She had recorded snippets of the opening song to send to the folks back home......wish you were here.....Their loss that they weren't!

It was just a great feeling to be there. I remember the buzz when Like A Rollling Stone was played. Nearest I ever got to the stage was at the o2 when I was right at the front, with a great view of Bob's legs. The music was really loud and it was the best place in the world to be...
