Spring cleaning/sorting magazines etc.....finding excuses not to throw too much away.....UK's Record Collector magazine July 2009 has a fascinating piece about a poster for sale.
It advertises a 1962 folk festival headlined by Jesse Fuller.Bob's debut LP had been released and he was about to start recording Freewheelin',but was still so little known that for his Sunday afternoon appearance he is advertised as 'Bob Dillon'.
It seems strange in retrospect, but as the RC feature rightly points out 'The success of The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan would ensure that his name would never be misspelled again'.

It is a gem.I have it on CD-found it a few years ago.Studs was a master of his craft. The way he encouraged Bob,without patronising him, brought the best out of the young man.
There is also a CD version of a radio interview with Cynthia Gooding on 11/3/62 .On CD as 'folksinger's choice'.It is equally as informative as the above, although some of Dylan's 'tall stories',seem to amuse CG when she obviously doesn't believe them! Both broadcasts have excellent live versions of what are now Dylan classics.......new songs then.
Both interviews are excellent, particularly when heard now with Dylan in his 70s(!).I used them as part of the research for the piece on Freewheelin' at 50 which is on the Visions of Dylan main site

UNCUT magazine has a review of a DVD release of a film made for BBC in 1992 'Bert Jansch-Acoustic Routes'.
Featuring Bert solo as well as his collaborations and chat with luminaries of the London/Les Cousins/Soho folk scene of the early 60s,including John Renbourn,Wizz Jones,Ralph McTell et al
There is a reference to Dylan's time on the London scene . Jansch is walking through Soho with his old buddy,Wizz Jones. He sees a pub he used to visit for jam sessions and remembers calling in with Dylan.Jones asks if Bob played there.Jansch laconically replied that he didn't....he was too stoned.....
The DVD is available from Absolute Distribution and is rated 8/10 by UNCUT

Aware that 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of JFK,I google searched the occasion and reached a new website www.jfk50.org'celebrate the past to awaken the future' is the tagline of this absorbing site.On a fairly quick viewing,I didn't see any specific references to Dylan. But the era of JFK as US President is intertwined with much of Dylan's early work, hence this recommendation. If any readers identify any references to Bob,it would be great if they could be shared here.
