The first time I heard Dylan - I think it was on the radio at my mother's house aged about 14. My brothers were all into rock and progressive. His voice was different and I liked the way the songs were accompanied by acoustic, and the anti-war aspect. It prompted me to take up guitar for a while where I learned along with thousands of others: House Of the Rising Sun. It was also around the time I started writing poetry. It's hard to know whether I would have been doing this anyway, but Dylan was certainly a plus in my teen years. The amazing thing is he is almost the same age as my father who was more into Roberta Flack and Donna Summer. Wishing him many good years ahead.

An interesting link between your father and Dylan....via Roberta Flack. To many people ,she is best known for her version of the MacColl classic,The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.In 1962 when Dylan played his own compositions in London folk clubs ,normally reserved for traditional song, there was major opposition by the folk music establishment......with Ewan MacColl being one of Dylan's most severe critics......no one is ever very far away from a connection with Dylan!
